From Grant to Growth: Finding Purpose at PestWorld

Attending PestWorld 2025 in Orlando was more than just a professional opportunity—it was a turning point.

Thanks to the support of the Pi Chi Omega Industry Grant, I was able to attend this incredible event and immerse myself in the very best our industry has to offer. But for me, PestWorld came at a time when I needed it most.

The year leading up to PestWorld brought a number of personal challenges. Like many in this industry, I was balancing business, leadership, and life—and at times, it felt heavy. PestWorld gave me the space to step back, refocus, and reconnect with why I chose this path in the first place.

Listening to new speakers, reconnecting with longtime friends, and participating in committee meetings reminded me of the strength and support within this industry. There is something powerful about being surrounded by people who understand your work, your challenges, and your purpose. That experience gave me exactly what I needed—a renewed sense of clarity and a deep commitment to continue showing up and contributing.

Since returning from PestWorld, that renewed energy has carried forward in ways I didn’t fully expect. I had the honor of delivering my first keynote presentation at the Pacific Northwest Pest Management Conference—something I may not have had the confidence to do before this experience. I also took a leap and submitted to present as part of a symposium at the upcoming Entomological Society of America meeting this April.

PestWorld didn’t just provide education and networking—it gave me confidence. It reinforced that growth often comes from stepping outside of comfort zones and leaning into opportunities.

As I continue to develop in my career, I am more certain than ever that this is where I’m meant to be. There is no place I would rather be than surrounded by the people in this industry—individuals who are passionate, driven, and committed to protecting public health and our communities.

I am incredibly grateful to Pi Chi Omega for investing in professionals like me. This experience has not only impacted my career but has strengthened my desire to give back. My hope is that I can continue to support and inspire the next generation of pest management professionals to find their own passion and purpose within this industry.
